The space
ABOUT THE HOUSE: This open air, light-filled house has been thoughtfully designed with family and friends in mind. We’ve curated every detail of the experience here at SMKTREE PALMS - for those seeking solitude and down time in the fresh air and desert sun. The spacious living/dining area opens up to the dining patio, BBQ grill and cowboy pool, hot tub, hammocks, fire pit and picnic table around the corner KITCHEN: Fully equipped kitchen w/ modern appliances, cooking set & spices, french press, coffee maker, whole bean grinder, toaster and toaster oven, interior and exterior plates and glassware. MAIN BEDROOM with a king sized bed, a custom redwood platform has a sliding door adding ample light and access to the cowboy pool and spectacular views of Joshua Tree Park. The ensuite bathroom features a rainfall antique brass shower head, charcoal tiles and plenty of plants soaking up sun under the skylight. 2ND BEDROOM has a queen Tuft & Needle mattress and own separate bathroom. (NOTE: In case you decide to add more guests, there is always an option to book the 3rd bed for an additional fee) OUTDOOR SPACE is perfect for kids and dogs to roam the enclosed yard and couples to relax and unwind from excursions in The Park. There is a cowboy pool, soft tub, oversized hammocks and a firepit on the half acre. There is also easy hiking just across the street. Expect plenty of California Gamble quails to gather around the feeding hole. Jackrabbits, roadrunners, ground squirrels, white lizards and coyote sightings from the property! PET FRIENDLY: Pre-screened pets are welcome for an additional fee of $70/pet. They must be house-trained and stay off beds, couch, spa & pool. FAMILY FRIENDLY: A dedicated workspace in the 3rd bedroom can double as a baby changing surface. A portable changing pad and pack-n-play are provided on request STARGAZING ALERT: View the PERSEIDS on the half acre yard or go to Skys The Limit Observatory (10min from house) when they open up the high powered scopes for 1 night each month. You will be sent a code for the front door 3 days before your arrival and will be active during the time of your stay. Guests have access to the entire property except for garage and W/D unless arranged in advance for longer stays.

Please be respectful of neighbors and no loud music outside after 10pm. Please refrain from lighting the firepit during fire season up until Jan 1st NO smoking inside or out, NO pets w/o approval, NO parties or events - (See house rules). Photo and video shoots must be approved ahead of time by the owner

9 min from the north entrance Joshua Tree Ntl Park 5 min • CAMPBELL HILL BAKERY- fresh baked daily...I cant order anything else but the jalapeno corn muffin and corn chowder soup but I hear the desserts are amazing too! There's usually a line bc they let in 2-3 ppl at a time but it goes quick. • KITCHEN IN THE DESERT for open air lunch/dinner and cocktails. Reserve early on weekends because it can get crowded. • MARA - recently opened and now we have a hi-end AMAZING restaurant. The bouillabaisse is stellar! • GRND SQRL for pulled pork sandwiches and curated ales and ipa, • MAS A MENOS coffee and cocktail cafe just opened abt 12 min away • THE RIB CO for BBQ, • MEXICAN STREET TACOS- a hole in the wall but has an authentic 80’s retro bowling alley/bar a la Kenny Scharf • THE OUTER BAR - chill bar down the street from Kitchen In The Desert • TESLA Super Charging stations at Tortoise Rock Casino - 5 min GROCERIES- 5 min: Stater Bros has everything! There's even a BBQ whole chicken in heaters up front that's good and ready-to-go! Farmers Market at the 29Palms Visitor Center every Sat at 8am SHOPPING: 5 min Habitat for housing goods and shopping 5 min to White Label Vinyl for records

2 parking spots in the driveway and plenty of parking off to the side on the dirt or on the street. Please do not block the garbage cans.

SMKTREE PALMS was fantastic! Everything was exactly as described and was perfect for our time there. 29 Palms is our go-to when visiting Joshua Tree National Park, and this visit was our best yet. HIGHS - Kiku was warm and friendly, proactive with instructions, helpful with great recommendations - The house was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped - Water pressure was excellent (big plus for my wife!) - 15 minutes to the 29 Palms park entrance - lots of great restaurants (Kitchen in the Desert) and shops (Very Very, White Label Vinyl) LOWS - Ha! Good luck finding any!

One of our favorite stays of all time!! Kiku has a tremendous gift for design...the space is restful and elegant...it's even lovelier than the pictures portray. We found the master bed to be supremely comfortable. Fantastic rainshower, fully appointed kitchen, thoughtful light fixtures throughout the home and outside. The house is very conveniently located for those visiting Joshua Tree. Extra kudos for all the happy healthy houseplants and the quail crossing outside. Kiku is responsive, communicative, and friendly. We couldn't have been happier with our stay!

We had a great stay for our anniversary trip exploring Joshua Tree NP! Kiku gave great recommendations, was very responsive and communicative, and the location was private and perfect proximity to the park. The house was clean and had everything we needed and more, very close to stores for anything you might need to pick up, and the hot tub was a nice touch after a long day of hiking and adventuring! Highly recommend!

Had such a good stay. We loved seeing the mountain views and the quails that like to come around the property! They are so cute! The host was so kind and responsive. We brought our corgi, who loved the yard. Finding a pet friendly airbnb can be difficult and this was so accommodating and fun for all of us. Tons of fun amenities like an outdoor theatre and hot tub. Super nice if you want a nice get away. Peaceful and quiet.

We had a wonderful time here! We booked during the new moon so we could see the stars, and it was lovely to look at them while in the hammocks in the yard. Everything was thoughtfully decorated. Would stay again.

What a spacious and inviting home! Furnished with everything we needed, lots of space inside and out and set in a quiet community with gorgeous views. We appreciated the comfortable beds, designer decor and touches of home. Kiku was very proactive and provided a thorough list of restaurants and things to do which was greatly appreciated as well. Highly recommend!

We had such a great stay at this Joshua Tree home. The space was clean, comfortable, and exactly as pictured. The jacuzzi was definitely a highlight — it heated quickly, worked perfectly, and made our nights super relaxing. The backyard was peaceful and private, and the host was very responsive and easy to communicate with. Overall it was a really great experience and we would definitely stay here again.

We had an amazing stay and were surprised by how much there was to do in the area. Her recommendations were spot on and we took advantage of many of them. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. The cowboy pool was especially nice, surprisingly refreshing when it’s 106. Highly Recommend!

Kiku’s place was absolutely fantastic! We felt right at home from the moment we arrived. Beautifully decorated and thoughtfully designed, it was a joy to spend time there. The pool and outdoor theater were wonderful touches, and the space was so comfortable we hardly wanted to leave. Just a few minutes’ drive from the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park, it is perfectly located for anyone wanting to explore the park. We originally came to watch the Perseids meteor shower, and with skies completely free of light pollution, we had an unobstructed view of the Milky Way. It was truly breathtaking.

My wife and I took our infant son on his first trip, and Kiku's place was perfect for this. It was clean and comfortable, and it had everything we needed. She was kind enough to provide a nice pack-and-play and she even bought a highchair for our son. And she was so kind and responsive when we reached out. We enjoyed the pool, cooked one night, checked out the restaurants, and spent a ton of time outdoors. Joshua Tree and Kiku's place were the highlight of our 2-week Cali trip. Highly recommend!

Kiku’s house is in a great location- a 5 min walk to an awesome park that our kiddos loved, 15 min drive to Joshua Ntl park, less than 10 min to groceries etc. We really enjoyed the farmers market on Saturday- don’t miss the authentic Hawaiian shave ice stand. The house was well decorated and stocked with everything we needed. We all loved the outdoor projector as well as the quail, rabbit, squirrel, and bird watching right outside the kitchen window. Kiku was responsive and helpful throughout our stay. Thank you!

We stayed at Kiku’s place during our recent trip to Joshua Tree for the festival, and we had a fantastic time! The house was spacious, modern, and very clean, accommodating all of us comfortably. We especially loved the local coffee beans she provided— they were amazing! My husband and daughter really enjoyed the cowboy pool. 🤠 Every morning, we were greeted by quails and little bunnies right in the backyard, which was such a special experience. If we ever return for another festival, we would definitely consider staying here again!

HOUSE RULES: 1- No parties, outside visitors or unconfirmed guests without previous approval. 2- Please respect quiet hours bet 10pm and 7am while enjoying the outside areas. 3- No smoking inside the house or anywhere on property 4- Please remove shoes when entering the house. 5-Read House manual sent on day of booking for Safety Precautions regarding the Cowboy Pool and Hot Tub. Use both Pool and Hot Tub at own risk. 6-No candles, incense or any other smoke producing product can be used inside the house. Open flames are prohibited interior or exterior of the property. 7- Outside fires are prohibited April 15 through October 29. Please adhere and do not use the firepit during these months. 8- Leave exterior lights off near the sliding door at night. Even w/ the screendoor shut, bugs are attracted to the light will fly in everytime you enter. 9- Please be conscious of energy and shut lights and heat/AC whenever leaving the house. 10- Any photo or video shoots must be approved to the owner in the pre-booking stage PETS: We do allow (2) dogs but please bring your own pet supplies. No pets on sofa, beds, etc. We will have to charge additional cleaning fees for excessive dog hair, pet stains or damage. SECURITY CAMERAS - For security and insurance purposes, we have installed security cameras monitoring the entry doors and driveway up to the house. The cameras do not monitor the interior or outdoor living areas. SECURITY DEPOSIT - The owner may withhold all or part of the deposit if any of the house rules are broken, and may pursue legal action if damages or violations exceed the security deposit amount. LIABILITY WAIVER - By making your reservation you and the other members in your party as THE GUESTS agree to release THE HOSTS from all liability, including financial responsibility relating to injuries & personal property damage that may occur during your stay. You accept full responsibility for any bodily injury arising while on the property and hold owner harmless.
